Matthew’s story
Matthew is an Associate Solicitor at Weightmans LLP and from 1 June 2022 will be the first openly gay president of Leeds Law Society in its 150-year history. Today he kindly shares his story with us.
Matthew explains he always knew he was different but describes his journey as being far from simple. It wasn’t until Matthew was at University, experiencing Manchester’s vibrant gay scene, that he started to identify as gay.
His captivating story explores the pressures of coming out to family members as an only child, receiving positive reactions from friends, and finding confidence and acceptance in the workplace.
