We had a brilliant evening at our latest bi-monthly Club Out Together professional LGBTQ+ networking event, hosted by our wonderful friends at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors in Leeds.
The event highlighted LGBTQ+ History Month with three great speakers:
Tim Gittins, Chairman of Out Together talked about the history and significance of the Rainbow Flag.
Peter Barton, a Macmillan Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist talked about taking care of LGBTQ+ patients and the support they need through a cancer diagnosis.
Reagan Persaud, the first and only trans Barrister from an ethnic minority background and Deputy District Judge on the North District Circuit, talked about the history of LGBTQ+ rights and issues in the legal system.

As individuals, they each touched on a common theme of the current atmosphere for the LGBT+ community. This stressed that, as history has demonstrated, we cannot stand by whilst the rights and freedoms we enjoy are threatened. Informal discussions later with guests confirmed there is an opportunity to build an alliance that will show what can be achieved by working together. This is something we are considering at Out Together, and we hope to have more news soon.
A huge thank you to Matt, Sophie, and the team for putting on a great night and special thanks also to Nicola at Irwin Mitchell for hosting and providing refreshments for the evening.
